TELEVENT TAPS APANI® EPIFORCE® AS SECURITY SOLUTION OF CHOICE

Unprecedented Network Security Now Enabled for Latency-Sensitive SCADA Environments

Apani, the preeminent provider of identity-aware network solutions for large enterprises, today announced that it has entered into a new OEM partnership with Telvent (NASDAQ: TLVT), the IT company for a sustainable and secure world. Telvent is a global provider of information technologies targeted to Energy, Transportation, Environmental, and Public Administration industries.

Telvent will offer Apani EpiForce as a security overlay to its OASyS DNA 7.5 Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) platform. Deployed in many of the largest oil, gas and electric companies in the world, OASyS is a real-time, highly distributed solution suite incorporating interoperable applications linked through standard interfaces.

“EpiForce was designed to secure the most demanding environments in a way that is transparent, easy to manage and highly reliable,” stated Apani president, Koichi Takazawa. “Telvent is one of the most respected brands in energy and transportation and we’re very pleased they have selected EpiForce. We’re excited to work with them as they deploy the benefits of EpiForce to their customers.”

After extensive evaluation, in which Telvent reviewed a number of leading products, the global solutions provider selected EpiForce to address the critical security requirements of its customers. Apani’s security solution provided the highest levels of network security while integrating seamlessly with Telvent’s flagship OASyS DNA platform. EpiForce protects communications within OASyS DNA installations without having to modify the underlying applications. In addition, performance and scalability features in EpiForce enable the highest levels of agility and responsiveness in safeguarding critical customer operations.

“Our clientele are some of the largest companies in the world with critical infrastructure systems that require bullet-proof and resilient security. The EpiForce network encryption solution offers a high level of protection coupled with unparalleled ease-of-use and, of course, full interoperability with the OASyS DNA platform,” said Larry Stack, president of Telvent’s energy division. “Moreover, there is no development effort required for us or our customers in order to realise the exceptional benefits that can be achieved through the combination of OASyS DNA and EpiForce. We see the potential for broad utilisation of EpiForce across the breadth of our business, incorporating its innovative technology to provide enhanced security solutions not just for Energy, but for Environment, Transportation and Public Administration customers as well.”

Telvent’s OASyS DNA solution suite gathers data from geographically dispersed sensors in real time and presents that information to operators and analysts controlling pipelines and electric grids across the world. Comprised of a suite of applications deployed on a flexible hardware platform, OASyS DNA offers the most secure real time system available.

According to Jason Konoff, OASyS product manager, “EpiForce’s unique architecture is ideally suited for SCADA systems because it combines many core security services, yet it is designed for complex, low-latency environments. Using software to provide host-based access control, policy-based encryption of data in motion and robust activity logging and reporting through a centralised management console, EpiForce is a comprehensive, all-in-one solution designed for easy integration with even the most complex and critical environments.”

Apani® EpiForce® provides a single security solution that enables an identity-aware network without requiring network readdressing or reconfigurations, eliminating countless hours

of maintenance to support new security initiatives. EpiForce is a software-based alternative to using network firewalls and VLANs for security inside the corporate network. EpiForce can be installed, deployed and configured on top of existing network infrastructure without requiring changes to the infrastructure.
