REVIEW:

Installation: 9 out of 10
AntiVir's SMC (Security Management Centre) allows administrators to take full control over installation of its products. Admins familiar with Unix/Linux will soon have these systems protected too after some minor configurations.

Administration/Updating: 9 out of 10
The AntiVir Security Management Centre offers complete remote administration, licensing, configuration, updating and monitoring of products across your network. This includes support for Unix/Linux systems.

Integration: 8 out of 10
Once installed, AntiVir allows users to easily check individual or a group of selected files easily from the Explorer window. Its user interface is clean and intuitive should someone want to run an unscheduled scan or check on a previous report.

Effectiveness: 7 out of 10
Avira have a handful of awards from VB100%. Unlike many others tested Avira don?t subscribe to the Westcoast Labs Checkmark test but have achieved TUV approval for the past 2 years as well as obtaining the ICSA Labs certification.

Ease of Use: 9 out of 10
Again using the SMC, administrators can take control of when and what AntiVir does. This takes away emphasis on users having to ?think? about it.

Support: 7 out of 10
The Avira website offers support in the form of a comprehensive FAQ forum. Telephone support is offered but with no UK number it will be a call to Germany, Austria or Switzerland. Email support is also offered.

Value for money: 7 out of 10
Avira aren?t the cheapest, but as a nice, easy to use product, they are a good, solid buy.
