REVIEW:GFI EndPointSecurity comes in two parts. The first is the administration console that allows the administrator to configure the policies and which can also be used to install the remote client software on to the network computers. The client software is the second part and is called the GFI EndPointSecurity agent, this is the client side service that enforces the policies as defined in the administration console on the server. The administration software provides an easy to navigate list of portable device types and places them in the appropriate groups. Supported devices include CD/DVD ROM`s, Floppy Drives, Storage Devices such as flash memory cards, readers and a multitude of multimedia players, PDA devices, Digital cameras, Network Adapters (WLAN, Bluetooth, and infrared), Modems (including phones) and more. Administration is little more than selecting which computers have access to what. To make this even easier you can use a wizard to guide you through it stepby- step. Once configured and with the client side software deployed the policy is enforced immediately, should a ?blocked? device be connected to this machine it will be denied access and a log of the event will be taken ready for auditing.
