Founder of eSafe Technologies, Inc., is a leading pioneer in the areas of anti-virus, security, and anti-vandal technology. As an expert in the industry, Gruper’sresearch and expertise has been the focus of numerous articles in the top scientific and technical trade journals.

Shimon Gruper joined Aladdin after it acquired eSafe in 1998. Now serving as Executive Vice President of Internet Security Technologies, Gruper manages all of eSafe's expanding operations. Through his close leadership with Aladdin, eSafe continues to consistently provide end users with unparalleled protection from Internet Content Security threats, such as viruses, vandals and other malicious content.

As a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and Security Systems Certified Practitioner (SSCP) and with over 15 years of directing and developing security, antivirus and anti-vandal technologies, Gruper began his career as a Sergeant Major in charge of Systems Administration and Maintenance for special Israeli Air Force computers. After serving a compulsory term in the Israeli Air Force, Gruper founded his first company, EliaShim, Ltd., in January 1984 – a leading PC/LAN security firm.

In 1987, Gruper developed one of the first anti-virus programs just as the first known computer virus was discovered. After realizing the need for a more comprehensive scanning tool, Gruper and his team developed the first program that used generic algorithms to find viruses versus the traditional known scanning approach. This technology made it possible to catch and clean most viruses found on computers and would later become the standard for all anti-virus programs.

With EliaShim successfully tackling the high tech issues of PC/LAN security and anti-virus, Gruper founded a second company in 1997 to focus solely on Internet protection – eSafe Technologies, Inc. The first project of eSafe Technologies was to successfully develop a product that completely protects end-users from Internet-borne, hostile auto-executables such as hostile Java Applets, ActiveX controls, plug-ins, etc. The development of this product further demonstrates Gruper’s ability to successfully anticipate the needs of the security marketplace.

Because of his expertise, Gruper frequently presents on such topics as Internet Security, Network security, anti-virus and anti-vandal at conferences sponsored by organizations such as the International Computer Security Association (ICSA), Computer Security Institute (CSI), Microsoft, Comdex, Virus Bulletin as well as conferences sponsored by financial institutions such as Robertson & Stephens, Hambrecht & Quist and others.

Gruper received a degree in Practical Engineering of Electronics from the Technion, a well known technical institute, located in Haifa, Israel.
